Top 10 Amazing Activities on Dog's Bucket List
When Gizelle, Lauren Fern Watt's 160-pound English Mastiff, was diagnosed with terminal bone cancer, she decided to spend the rest of her dog's life making memories. As we have seen Mr. Dukes' bucket list , here are the highlights from Gizelle’s bucket list.
10. Ride in a canoe
Gizelle and Lauren used to watch "The Little Mermaid" together and a favorite scene was when Ariel is chauffeured around in a row boat by Prince Eric, so Lauren did the same thing with her 160 pound dog.
9. See Times Square
Gizelle normally avoided Times Square because of the crowds but Lauren wanted her to see it one last time so she took her early in the morning.
8. Go on a road trip
Gizelle loved car rides so Lauren and a friend took her on a four-day road trip through New England. The girls all took turns sticking their heads out the window and dancing to music along the way.
7. Eat lobster in Maine
Lauren traveled all the way to Well’s Beach in Maine to find the perfect lobsters for her best friend. Before cooking them Lauren let the lobsters loose so Gizelle could figure out what they were.
6. Eat ice cream
In Manhattan it’s easy to forget the simple pleasures in life so Lauren made it her mission to find a quiet dock where Gizelle could eat ice cream, watch boats float by and enjoy life.
5. Spend a day at the park
Gizelle loved the park so Lauren decided they would spend an entire day roaming Washington Square Park in N.Y.C. Gizelle got along with everyone and made lots of new friends that day.
4. Go to a party
Gizelle was always Lauren’s wing girl when she wanted to meet guys in the East Village so now it was Lauren’s turn to hook up Gizelle. Lauren found out a friend was having a party with some adorable single dogs on the invite list so she brought Gizelle along to meet someone special.
3. Eat the best doughnuts
As Gizelle’s health deteriorated her appetite disappeared as well. Luckily for her Lauren wasn’t willing to watch her friend go hungry so she decided to get Gizelle something delicious to eat.
2. Sit on the beach in the winter
As the pair sat on a peaceful beach in Maine it began to snow. This would be the last full day the two friends would spend together. Gizelle passed away peacefully the next day.
1. Cuddle as much as possible
After Lauren discovered Gizelle was dying, dog hair on the furniture and slobber on her face didn’t seem to matter anymore, she just wanted to spend time with her friend. Lauren says those last few months helped teach her that love is the most wonderful gift she could receive and the most wonderful thing she has to give.
