" American Idol " has discovered so many biggest names in the music industry since its 2002 debut.
But Fox announced on Monday that the forthcoming season will be the show's last . In anticipation of the last season, here is a countdown of the 10 most successful American Idol contestants.
10. Kellie Pickler, Season 5
Born on June 28, 1986, Kellie Pickler has now become a famous music artist and television personality. She ranked sixth in season 5 of the show and got a contract with BNA Records which resulted in her first album.
9. Phillip Phillips, Season 11
The Season 11 winner’s debut album, "The World From the Side of the Moon," is certified gold, and his debut single, “Home,” made him the first Idol star to land the No. 1 spot on Adult Pop Songs.
8. Scotty McCreery, Season 10
Scotty McCreery's singles “I Love You This Big” and “The Trouble With Girls” both landed the Hot 100 and the Hot Country Songs chart on Billboard - and the 20-year-old is only getting started.
7. David Cook, Season 7
This singer-songwriter was born on December 20, 1982 in Houston, Texas. He is a rock-oriented vocalist and has won the seventh season of American Idol. He released his debut album David Cook and it went platinum, selling more than a million copies in the U.S.
6. Chris Daughtry, Season 5
Although Chris Daughtry placed fourth in the competition, the “Home” singer, now 34, has sold over 6.5 million album copies and 11.9 million track sales.
