Fancy seeing the Disney girls and DreamWorks boys in Korean hanboks? So do we!
You know that we, like many of you, love animation productions, be it Japanese anime or Western cartoons and animated blockbusters. And since you’re visiting our humble website, we’re guessing that you probably have an interest in Asian cultures, like we do, since that’s basically what we write about most of the time.
If a combination of both the abovementioned factors tickles your fancy, then you’re in for a little visual treat today because we found Disney’s Rapunzel, Merida, Elsa and Anna, plus DreamWorks Animation’s Jack Frost and Hiccup decked in some gorgeous Korean costumes! Check them out!
We’ve previously seen a Korean illustrator’s East-West fusion of Western fairy tales in traditional Korean-style drawings , with pretty amazing results. Well, the ever-popular Elsa just got herself another chance to don the Korean hanbok, though this time designed by the hands of yet another talented Korean artist, Byajae (뱌재 @rcbboy0527 ).
Apart from Elsa, Anna, Rapunzel and Merida from the Disney lineup, Jack Frost from Rise of the Guardians and Hiccup from How to Train Your Dragon got a fashion makeover too!

The harmony between the traditional and modern details, vibrant colors and incorporation of each character’s personality simply blew us away. Somehow, the illustrations of the boys feels like a refreshing breeze because we’ve seen so many fan art pieces of the Disney girls . These adorable boys deserve more love!

These beautiful illustrations have been materialized into postcards, which Byajae is retailing ( here ) at 5,000 Korean won (US$4.57) for a set that contains all six designs. Unfortunately, Byajae does not ship internationally, so…time to make some Korean friends! Until you find somebody who is willing to help you with your purchase, feast your eyes on Byajae’s work by visiting his blog or Twitter !
